Hey, future member!

Did you know I didn’t get invited to my high school reunion? Although I probably didn’t get invited due to their inability to contact me, I would bet that talking to any of my old classmates, they’d be surprised that I became a pediatric chiropractor. Wouldn’t that be someone who excelled in sports and science, was really extroverted, or spent a lot of time with kids?

Growing up, I struggled with asthma, allergies, a severe case of clumsiness (let’s just say not even my best friend would pick me to be on their team in gym class), and eventually debilitating back pain and depression. Young people were assumed to not be able to have pain back then, so it was something I tried to live with, until I was in undergrad and had such awful sciatica I could barely get out of bed in the morning. A series of events brought me to a chiropractor, which to be honest, I was barely open to and kind of scared of. I probably shouldn’t admit that now as a chiropractor, but if you’ve had any hesitation about seeking care, just know that I can relate. And as you can guess, my experience was life giving and life changing.

It sounds dramatic, but I am a completely different person now than before I got my first adjustment. My perception of life shifted so much that my personality did too. I went from shy, pessimistic, and shrunken-in to expressive, optimistic, and open to taking risks. I went from forging notes to get out of gym class to running a half marathon and discovering strength and possibility in my body. This was incredible and all, but it wasn’t until I started witnessing the medically impossible in others through chiropractic care that I realized that this was perhaps my purpose: to serve others in reconnecting with their own limitless power.

In the last 10 years I have cared for people from ages 0-94, of all sorts of backgrounds and situations. When they share their stories with me, I am reminded of how one’s health impacts just about everything. I often wonder what my life would’ve been like, had my parents known to bring me to a chiropractor starting at birth, or had my parents or grandparents received care (since the egg I came from was in my mom while she was in my grandma). For me, the path to focusing on pediatrics and perinatal care was paved by a vision to transform the health of generations.

So, wherever you are and wherever you have been, I can’t wait to meet you and see the possibilities we create together.

Love, Dr. Ellie
